Have faith.

Romans 8:28 God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to his purpose.

I want to do something in this blog that quite frankly I strive to do in all my blogs, take you on a journey.

I’ve read the Romans 8:28 verse so many times. Didn’t even have to look it up to type it for this. But I noticed something that is giving me a new perspective and I’ll be praying that the same happens to you.

Life can really hurt sometimes. More often than not the toughest hurts come from our expectations. Remember the movie, “Great Expectations?” I never saw it, lol, but the title says it all. We have a culture that is surrounded by great expectations.

You will live the American dream, have a great career, fall in love, raise a family, retire well, watch them succeed and die happy.

I don’t know about you, but my life just doesn’t feel that neat and tidy. It doesn’t feel that…organized.

When I was 20 years old I came to know a true relationship with Jesus. I was saved out of deep depression, severe drinking, brokenness, self-hatred, and constant suicidal thoughts. Jesus saved me.

Right after that, I met a girl. We’ll call her Jane. I will never forget the first time I saw her. We met at a bible study and talked on a couch for 30 minutes, which felt like 30 seconds. I walked out of the house that night and said, “I just met the woman I’m going to marry.” And I knew it.

The next few months were incredible. She would walk in a room and my heart would start pounding out of my chest. Literally. We flirted, talked about God, stayed late after bible study and church, we laughed, and when we looked at each other, it felt like something so special.

There was just one problem; Jane had been deeply hurt by her previous relationship, a fiancée. Him and I had just about everything in common other than he was a rotten douche bag and I was prince charming.

But it didn’t matter. Jane could never give me a chance. I even went to Iraq and came home thinking we would fall in love, we never did. She actually ended up marrying one of my closest friends at the time.

Life is funny.

I am writing this blog not to bum you out but to give your perspective on the word “together.” Think about the phrase,” God works all things together

I absolutely love this because you have to put the pieces together, put a puzzle together, work together, gather together, remember together…

The word together naturally infers that thing have to be worked and placed together. It isn’t just in a neat, clean, and orderly process.

Think about a mound of puzzle pieces… look like your life? Good, you’re in great shape for Him to guide you 🙂

A friend of mine recently challenged me that there is no set PLAN, the Bible say’s God know the plan’S he has for you. Plan’S, plural…

Some of you have lost hope through your circumstances. You haven’t lost your faith in God or Him loving you but you have lost faith in His ABILITY to work ALL things TOGETHER for the good of those who Love Him and are CALLED according to His purpose.

Are you called? Check.

Do you Love Him? Check.

Then you are destined for greatness. But without Faith it is impossible to please Him. He is a rewarder of those who BELIEVE that He IS and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Have faith. I have seen so many wonderful things in my life. I haven’t found love yet and I don’t have to. He works it together.

You are in His timing and you are in His truth. You are God’s kid. He loves you, He created you, and He has destined you for GREAT things.

Think about it, if you had everything you ever wanted, woud you really need faith?

Have faith… Just have faith.

The best is yet to come,

Ben Peterson
