The Time for Inheritance

Have you ever inherited anything? I haven’t. I think that’s why I have a hard time understanding being given anything someone else worked for simply because… I’m part of a family.

Well, It’s time to rip the ceiling off how we see an inheritance.

If you’re like me, you like to earn things. Go out, crush it, throw your name on it and say, “that’s right world, I did that, and see how awesome it is?! Yep, I made it happen.” I love to work, I love overcoming challenges, hardship, and tough times. It’s where I see the depth of my own weakness and inability to keep going. Then and really only then do I turn to the Father in desperate need to be filled so I can overcome.

But, can I tell you a little secret? I really don’t believe that’s how my God wants me to do life.

Check this out:

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12-13

Get ready for your freakin mind to be blown! When Jesus died he gave you and I the ability to belong in the family of God. To become God’s sons and daughters. This is such a radical concept because I have never been adopted and I’ve never inherited anything. But when we grasp that everything Jesus died to give us is wrapped up in the fact that we have become a child of God based solely on our faith and not on what we do, the entire world turns upside down.

We want to work for everything because we are in pride. But that’s not how it works when you are a son inheriting from your family. The way that you view your standing with God as a son or daughter directly impacts how you see yourself. It changes you.

You are able to see that you are a brand new creation in Jesus, that your past is over, gone, forgiven and made new. You realize that you have the mind of Jesus Christ which is free from anxiety, worry and depression. You’re all in to the fact that everything you see in this world is just a vapor, so temporary compared to the inexpressible joy waiting for you in Heaven. You understand that you can come to God, no matter what the circumstance, ask Him for the desire of you heart and know that if it is His will it is already done for you, under heaven.

What I’m talking about here, is called freedom. You are able to live in freedom when you realize now is the Time for Inheritance. Receive it. Someone had to pay for it… and Jesus already did. So be the son, become the daughter that in His eyes, you already are.

The best is coming for your life,

BP
