You Have An Amazing Heart

Take a moment and pause with me to think about your heart. Think about the emotions your heart feels. Ponder the joy, exhilaration, heartache, and pain your heart can tangibly experience.

I was driving down the road today and began to think about a friend of mine who was very special to me. As I was thinking about him I actually began to feel a pain in my heart because… I miss him.

Then my mind started racing…. How is it that my heart can actually feel this emotion? It’s just an organ. And why my heart? Why does my heart feel that pain? Why doesn’t my liver or lungs? What is so specific about the heart? Why did God design the body that way? What is the significance behind the heart feeling those emotions?

Have you ever had a significant crush on someone and when they walked into the room your heart literally pounded out of your chest? It’s an extraordinary experience. Where does that passion and desire come from?

I am a firm believer that God designed everything about us for a purpose.

· The heart is at the center of your body. It pumps blood, which contains oxygen to every corner of your being. Your heart brings the breath of life to your body.

· The heart cleanses the blood moving through your body from carbon dioxide and refuels it with oxygen. It takes in the blood that is not rich with life and gives it life.

· The heart is the first functional organ to develop after life begins at conception.

· The heart ceasing to beat signifies the end of someone life here on earth.

· An electrical signal in your heart actually causes it to beat.

In the bible there is a rule that whenever a new word or practice is introduced for the first time it sets into motion a tremendous significance. For example, the first time worship is mentioned in the Bible, Abaraham is going to sacrifice his only son Isaac (God ends us sparing Isaac). But the first mention of worship signifies sacrifice. Worship is a sacrifice of praise to God. Make sense?

So here’s the deal :)Your heart is the very first organ to start beating and to begin to work in your body from when you were in your mothers womb. The heart signifies life. It is where life began in you and it’s where it will end.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Your body is the temple where God has chosen to live. Your body is the very house of God Himself. And your heart is the most significant place in your body because it’s where life began.

So let me ask you a question… why do you struggle with not liking yourself? Maybe you do and maybe you don’t but I know that I struggle with not liking what I see in the mirror from time to time. I struggle with the weakness’s of my personality and the fears of not being good enough to others.

If all life began and flows from your heart then each of those emotions have to begin and take root in your heart. We all have experienced a broken heart through significant disappointment at one time or another. We all know what it’s like to have a tremendous hope and not see things work out the way we wanted.

That hurts the heart. And from that hurt flows all the negative emotions and feelings of what is wrong with you. The truth is, there is nothing wrong with you. You are made in the image of God and He loves you. The heart was made for love. Let His healing love flow into the hurt in your heart and watch Him transform the organ where all life begins and ends.

The best is yet to come,

Ben
